Defending champions do the double over Argentina



Hockey at its best was on full display as a last quarter onslaught from the Netherlands Women’s team was followed by an impressive performance from the Dutch Men as they defeated their Argentinean counterparts in Match Day 3 of the FIH Pro League 2023-24 Season.

Netherlands and Argentina to fight for the trophy at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2023



Lausanne, Switzerland: Netherlands stormed into the finals of the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2023 as they thrashed England by 8-1 goals in a one-sided match. In the other semifinal of the day, Argentina and Belgium played out a thriller with both teams not ready to give up on themselves. Later, it was decided via shootouts with Argentina emerging victorious.

France edge thriller against South Africa as Germany, Australia and Argentina register big wins



It was a day that sprung few surprises in Malaysia, as the final games from Pool A and Pool B fell the way that many would have expected to decide the final rankings in each pool. The games from Pool A consisted of some fairly convincing results for both Australia and Argentina. Defending Champions Argentina punched another stamp of confidence onto their campaign as they beat Chile 8-0, resigning the Chileans to their bottom spot, with the Argentinians finishing on top of Pool A. In the other game, Australia finished their pool stage with a 5-2 victory over Malaysia to decide second and third place. Having only lost to Argentina so far, the Australians fell into second place, whilst the tournament hosts rested in third.

Kuala Lumpur: India are smarting after a 1-4 setback against Spain on Thursday. On Saturday, the two-time champions play their last Pool C game against Canada in the 2023 FIH Men’s Junior World Cup at the Bukit Jalil stadium. But despondency, if any, will be put on the back burner. Canada are whipping boys of the pool after 0-7 and 1-4 defeats to Spain and South Korea respectively and Coach CR Kumar’s team will be smacking their lips and not quite sporting long faces in a bid to run up a hatful of goals and making the quarterfinals as one of two top teams in the pool.

The 27-year-old has been leading the Indian side from the front, scoring 13 goals in the team’s gold medal-winning Asian Games campaign. He scored an identical number of goals in the Asian Champions Trophy earlier in the year, where India topped the podium. In the 2022-23 FIH Pro League, Harmanpreet leads the goal tally, netting 18 goals.
