France struggle against Egypt in JWC opener

BUKIT JALIL: France defeated Egypt 3-1 in the opening game of the Junior World Cup (JWC) at National Hockey Stadium here today.





South Africa push Germany all the way in the opening game



South Africa began their FIH Junior World Cup 2023 quest in earnest on Tuesday in Malaysia when they took on the powerhouse of Junior World Hockey Germany. The Germans, winners of a medal in every tournament except one of the previous 12 editions are one of the favourites for the tournament and likely to be in the discussion at the business end of the tournament. For South Africa it’s a 6th appearance looking to consolidate the 9th place finish two years ago in India.

The first FIH Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup was held in Versailles, France, in 1979. There have been 12 editions of the tournament staged with the last one at Bhubaneswar, India, in 2021. Players under-21 years of age on December 31 in the year before the Junior World Cup are eligible to compete.

FIH partners with Malaysia’s free-to-air broadcaster RTM



The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is glad to announce that it has signed a media rights agreement with Malaysia’s free-to-air broadcaster RTM for the upcoming FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup scheduled in Kuala Lumpur from 5 to 16 December.

The South African Women’s Indoor Hockey squad has been announced for their first international series of 2024. They will play in a six-match away Test series against Switzerland, set to take place at the end of January 2024.

New Delhi: Day 2 of the 1st Hockey India Junior and Sub Junior Men Academy Championship 2023 – (Zone A) witnessed HAR Hockey Academy and Ghumanhera Riser’s Academy win their respective matches in the Sub Junior category while Army Boys Sports Academy, HAR Hockey Academy and Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy won their respective matches in the Junior category. Meanwhile, Markandeshwar Hockey Academy drew Raja Karan Hockey Academy 1-1 in the Junior Category.
