Indian Men's Hockey Team beats Bangladesh 12-0 to top Pool A, confirms Semi-Final berth

Harmanpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Amit Rohidas, Abhishek, Nilakanta Sharma and Gurjant Singh scored goals for India



Hangzhou: The Indian Men's Hockey Team on Monday qualified for the Semi-Final round of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, with a 12-0 win over Bangladesh. With five wins in all their five Pool stage matches, India ended the Pool stage as table toppers. Harmanpreet Singh (2', 4', 32'), and Mandeep Singh (18', 24', 46) scored hat-tricks each, while Abhishek (41', 57) scored a brace for India. Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (23'), Amit Rohidas (28'), Nilakanta Sharma (47'), and Gurjant Singh (56') also scored a goal each to help India get the win.

Heavy scoring seems to be a favourite game of Indians here. Second outing in succession, they unleashed a deadly dozen today at the picturesque Ghonsu Canal Sports Park stadium, Hangzhou. Like Pakistan the other day, Bangladesh was in the receiving end.





Pakistan played best hockey but ended up losers, out of semifinal

Pakistan, in a desperate and valiant attempt to keep semifinal chance alive, played their best hockey of the Asian Games today but could not overcome gritty defending champions Japan. Needing a win to knock out Japan and thus find a place for themselves as second in the pool, Pakistan dished out an exciting fare in the entire sixty minutes of play, but equally challenging defence planx of Shota Yamada, captain Masaki Ohshi and Manabu Yamashita saw their moves doused before catch fire to protect their slender solitary goal lead for the next 32 minutes!

KARACHI: Pakistan hockey team were knocked out of the medal race during the Asian Games after they lost 3-2 to Japan in Hangzhou, China, on Monday.

Pakistan will return home without a medal

Pakistan men's hockey team lost to Japan by 2-3 in the last encounters of the Pool A. Now, Pakistan is out of the medal race. In the classification matches Pakistan will face Malaysia for the fifth position in the Men's Hockey in the 19th Asian Games 2022 at Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium, Hangzhou 2023.

In the semi finals India will face South Korea and Japan will fight against China on 6 October 2023.

Eight times Asian Games men's hockey Champion Pakistan will return home without a medal for the second consecutive time. In the last Asian Games at Jakarta 2018 Pakistan lost the match played for the bronze medal against the arch-rivals India by 1-2.

ISLAMABAD: While the country’s hockey fans are still in disbelief over Pakistan's record defeat (2-10) at the hands of arch-rivals India in the 19th Asian Games pool hockey match, head coach and team manager Saeed Khan apologised to the nation and promised that the team would come up with a new vigor in a crucial match against Japan on Monday (today).

As expected, India's men's hockey team won all their group-stage matches at the Hangzhou Asian Games. As expected, they scored plenty of goals, 58 to be exact. As expected, they barely conceded any - five in five matches. As expected, they topped their group and made it to the semi-finals.

Vandana Katariya (2’, 16’, 48’), Deepika (4’, 54’, 58’) Monika (7’), Deep Grace Ekka (11’, 42), Sangita Kumari (27’, 55’), Vaishnavi Vithal Phalke (34’), and Navneet Kaur (58’) were the goalscorers for India.
