China claim bonus point as shoot-out woes continue to haunt New Zealand



FIH Hockey Pro League 2022/23 action continued from Wellington, as hosts New Zealand faced off against China. The teams could not be separated in the regulation time and for the second game in a row the hosts went into the shoot-outs looking to claim a bonus point. New Zealand managed to score on just one of their 5 attempts, as Liu Ping was outstanding in the goal for China, leading them to a win and a bonus point in the shoot-outs.





Black Sticks women lose fourth straight shootout after fulltime tie with China

The Black Sticks women have experienced more shootout pain, losing that way for the fourth consecutive time against China in Wellington on Sunday.

Elizabeth Thompson achieved 200 international appearances

New Zealand's midfielder Elizabeth 'Liz' Thompson appeared in her 200th. international hockey matches during the course of the match against USA in the Women's FIH Hockey Pro League at Wellington on 18 February 2023.

Elizabeth Thompson born (8 December 1994) made her debut in senior international hockey in Oceania Cup 2013.

Liz Thompson appeared in two Olympic Games 2016 and 2020, FIH World Cup 2018, FIH Champions Trophy 2014 and 2016, Commonwealth Games 2014 and 2018, Oceania Cup 2013, 2015 and 2017 and also in FIH Hockey World League and FIH Pro League.

Indian junior women’s hockey team clinches 8-0 win against South Africa

The South Africa Tour is part of the team’s preparations for the all-important Asia Cup U21, which is a qualification tournament for the forthcoming FIH Women’s Hockey Junior World Cup.



The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team registered a big 8-0 win against host South Africa in its second match of the Tour on Saturday.

Clydesdale made the promotion pool in Cambrai – but no promotion



Clydesdale Western secured a place in the promotion pool after a 3-3 draw with Slovakian side Raca in the morning, but then lost 5-2 to English side East Grinstead in the afternoon to dispel any promotion hopes. Clydesdale are bottom of the promotion pool with no points with only Austrian side WAC to play on Sunday.

Open trials of Karachi Qalandars hockey team



LAHORE - Lahore Qalandars, under the directives of its CEO Atif Rana, has conducted one-day open trials of Karachi Qalandars hockey team, which were attended by more than 1000 young players on the first day at KHA Sports Complex. The registration started at 9 am and continued till the last minute of the trials. Due to enthusiasm and large number of players, Atif Rana extended one day for the final trials.
