FIH Hockey Stars Awards 2021-22: Shortlists revealed as voting opens!



Lausanne, Switzerland: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is delighted to reveal the shortlists for the FIH Hockey Stars Awards 2021-22, with players, coaches, media and fans being able to register their votes for the nominees in the women’s and men’s categories for the Best Player, Goalkeeper, Rising Star and Coach of the Year, starting from today, 6 September 2022.

India’s head coaches Graham Reid and Janneke Schopman and young players Sanjay and Mumtaz Khan have also been nominated for FIH awards for 2021-22 season.

Indian hockey team players PR Sreejesh, Harmanpreet Singh and Savita Punia have been shortlisted for the 2021-22 year-end FIH awards.

Star Indian drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh was on Tuesday named among five nominees for the Men's Player of the Year honour while PR Sreejesh and Savita Punia figured in the shortlists for the best male and female goalkeeper for the FIH Hockey Stars Awards 2021-22.





Stars of EHL on FIH player shortlists



A string of players who shone in last season’s EHL or will light up this year’s competition have been named on the FIH Stars shortlists for 2022.

In the teams category of this year’s Hall of fame, Field Hockey Canada honours a team who blazed a trail for Canadian field hockey. The 1956 Canadian women’s field hockey team were the first to travel abroad to play international hockey. Their efforts helped pave the path for the future generation of players.

No. 12 Virginia field hockey hosted Temple Friday evening in its home opener at Turf Field before taking on in-state opponent James Madison Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers (3-1, 0-0 ACC) defeated both the Owls (3-1, 0-0 AAC) and the Dukes (2-2, 0-0 SBC) by scores of 1-0 and 3-2, respectively.





England record double gold at School Games



England Hockey sent U17 Boys and Girls teams to compete at the UK School Games National Finals event held at Loughborough University from 1-4 September.
