FIH Hockey Nations Cup: pools and match schedules revealed



The International Hockey Federation has revealed the pools (two groups of four teams each) and match schedules of both upcoming FIH Hockey Nations Cups, Men’s and Women’s.





Spain to host inaugural FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup



The Executive Board (EB) of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has appointed Spain as the host country for the inaugural FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup which will take place in Valencia from 10 to 17 December 2022. By doing so, the EB has followed the recommendation of the Task Force Events Bidding, which comprises of EB Members of all five Continental Federations.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia have received a favourable draw for the men's Nations Cup in Potchefstroom, South Africa, from Nov 28-Dec 4.





Indian women to open campaign against Canada in FIH Nations Cup hockey

India is placed in Pool B along side Canada, Japan and South Africa in the eight-nation tournament, a qualifier for next season's FIH Pro League.

The Indian women's hockey team will open its campaign against Canada in the FIH Nations Cup to be held in Valencia, Spain from December 11 to 17. India is placed in Pool B along side Canada, Japan and South Africa in the eight-nation tournament, a qualifier for next season's FIH Pro League.

The European Hockey Federation has beefed up its media department, with Stephen Findlater joining as a full-time communications manager with responsibility for EuroHockey events, Euro Hockey League, and Media.





Fiona Semple retires from international hockey



Fiona Semple has announced her retirement from international hockey after 61 caps and 12 goals for Scotland. Semple played for Scotland in two EuroHockey ‘A’ Division Championships, the World Series Finals in 2019, and was part of the 2019 EuroHockey Championship II gold medal winning side in Glasgow.





Interprovincial’s kick off the 2022-23 season with a flurry of goals



The 2022-23 season started off strongly as the first round of the Interprovincial competitions took place on Sunday 4th September. Sunday morning saw Leinster and Connacht teams travel to Mullingar where their U16, U18 and U21 teams came head to head. A little further south saw Munster welcome the Leinster South U16 and U18 teams to the UCC Hockey Pitch.

As a Wales and worldwide hockey fan I am asking this question: Why were England allowed to take the GB FIH space when it is meant to be GB? So the Welsh and for that matter the Scottish athletes who are part of GB lost out on the competitive practice that such a great tournament gives.
