Leonas outlast gritty USA, Martins double gives Argentina win over France



Argentina took down their North American rivals, the United States, 3-1 in the first of their two match-ups. Valentina Costa’s penalty corner double earned her Player of the Match in a game that marked the 100thinternational for Victoria Sauze. Danielle Grega scored the USA’s opening goal, also her team’s first in the Pro League.

Argentina's women maintained their perfect start to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League season with a 3-1 victory over the United States, while there was also a win for the men's side.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – At Cenard in Buenos Aires, there was a Pan American battle between the No. 15 U.S. Women’s National Team and No. 2 Argentina in their first meeting of the 2021-22 FIH Hockey Pro League. USA held the lead at the half, but Las Leonas capitalized on three penalty corners to overcome a strong performance by the red, white and blue, 1-3.

A total of nine hockey teams met at the Fiji National Hockey Centre to compete in the round-robin tournament of the 2022 Easter Games Hockey competition in Suva yesterday.





Scotland U21 men beaten in Loughborough

A close encounter in Loughborough saw England U21 men win 3-1 over Scotland in the first of three test matches.

England started off on the front foot but it was Scotland who broke the deadlock. Euan Burgess played a lovely pass into the D for Keir Robb who picked out Ben Galloway, and Galloway made no mistake to find the net for his first Scotland U21s goal. 1-0.
