India do the double over Germany, stay top of the table

India end their home stint in perfect fashion taking all 6 points available from the two games against Germany. It was a different script from the game last night as Germany learned from their performance last night and limited India’s penalty corner attempts to just 3 all game. But it was the Indian youngsters who also lifted their game, with young Sukhjeet and Abhishek scoring a goal apiece from the field, to go with a Varun Kumar drag flick goal from a penalty corner, that gave India enough of a lead to see out the game without too much discomfort.

India beat Germany 3-1 to do the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League double over their opponents and end a run of eight home matches in succession with five wins.

India did what was expected of them — win both matches of the FIH Pro League men’s doubleheader against Germany at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and consolidate their position at the top of the table.

India Comfortably Breach Germany Frontier

There was not much to write home about Andre Henning-coached Germans in the first leg tie. The Honamas needed to brush aside the cobwebs of the first leg blues and dish out a strong performance. But it was the Amit Rohidas-captained Indian outfit packed it far too much ammunition to sneak out a 3-1 win over Germany – a win that puts India comfortably at the top of the points table with 27 points from 12 matches. India now tough away games against Olympic champions Belgium and the Netherlands in the second and third week of June.

Indian men's team beats Germany 3-1 to end home leg on confident note

The Indians scored through Sukhjeet Singh (19th minute), Varun Kumar (41st) and Abhishek (54th), while Germany's lone goal was scored by Anton Boeckel (45th).
