Chile and Canada progressed to the semi-finals of the Women's Pan American Cup after winning their cross-over matches in Santiago.

T&T women’s hockey team will play for fifth place at the 2022 Women’s Pan American Cup, after falling to a huge 11-0 defeat to Chile on Tuesday at the Prince of Wales Country Club, La Reina, Santiago, Chile.

Just nine minutes into the match, Sara McManus struck the ball deep into the penalty circle and was met by Elise Wong’s stick, knocking it past the Uruguayan goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. However, the celebration wouldn’t last long as Uruguay went on to equalize off a penalty corner. It was one of nine corners that Canada would have to defend throughout a game that ended in a nail-biting fashion.

France to join Men’s FIH Hockey Pro League



The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is pleased to announce that France will join the third edition of the Men’s FIH Hockey Pro League. After Canada eventually pulled out due to COVID-related issues, FIH had contacted the next best teams, according to the FIH World Rankings, to invite one of them to replace Canada. France have accepted the invitation and, as the highest-ranked team having done so, will join the global home-and-away league – ‘Hockey at its Best’ - for this season.

France have joined this season's men's Hockey Pro League after Canada withdrew due to COVID-19 concerns.





FIH Pro League: Indian men’s hockey team to take on France in opener

The French hockey team was invited as a replacement for Canada, who pulled out due to COVID-related constraints.

The Indian men’s hockey team will open its campaign against France in the FIH Pro League, according to the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The match is scheduled to be played on February 8 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh on Tuesday said the Indian men's hockey side's main focus is qualifying for the Paris Olympics by winning the Asian Games this year besides giving opportunities to youngsters. He said that a lot of youngsters will be given opportunities in a hectic year for the team in which it will compete in marquee events like the Commonwealth Games and Asiad.
