Rutgers Field Hockey earns top seed in NCAA Tournament

The Scarlet Knights will open play at home on Friday, November 12.

Hours after winning the program’s first ever Big Ten Tournament title, Rutgers field hockey was named the top seed in the NCAA Tournament. The 18 team bracket was announced at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday night. The Scarlet Knights are the No. 1 seed and will host the winner of the play-in game between Delaware and Fairfield at 11 a.m. on Friday. The Scarlet Knights haven’t played potential foe Fairfield this season but defeated Delaware 2-0 on the road on September 19.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the fifth year in a row and the 24th time in program history, UNC-Chapel Hill celebrated an Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Championship on Sunday, beating Virginia 1-0 on a sunny afternoon at J.S. Coyne Stadium.

Maryland field hockey and Penn State headed into the fourth quarter of the Big Ten tournament first round tilt in Piscataway, New Jersey, knotted at two. Both of the Nittany Lions’ scores came from Anna Simon — who didn’t earn any All-Big Ten honors this year.





Field hockey team ends season on high note

Penn defeated Dartmouth 2-1 on Saturday, wrapping up their season with a three-game winning streak and third-place finish in the Ivy League.

The field hockey team concluded its 2021 season on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat of Dartmouth on Senior Day at Ellen Vagleos Field. The victory, the Quakers’ third straight win and sixth straight triumph over Dartmouth, gave the Red & Blue an above .500, 9-7 mark overall and a 5-2 record in Ivy League play. All of their losses came against teams ranked in the Top 20 in the country.

England Hockey were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Trevor Jones, a former international umpire and GB Board Hon Sec who also fulfilled a number of important roles in an incredible life in the sport.
