Annu’s brace went in vain as India lost 2-3 to Belgium in a closely-contested Pool C match to slump to their second consecutive defeat in the FIH Junior World Cup here today.





South Africa complete Group stage with defeat to Australia



South Africa and Australia last met in a Junior World Cup match in 2016 at the same venue and the Jillaroos were victorious 7-0 on that occasion. There was less riding on this game though for the South Africans as two defeats meant they were no longer in the discussion for a place in the Quarterfinals.

South Africa finished their third and final FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup 2023 Pool A fixture overnight on Saturday, going down 4-0 to Australia to end the round-robin phase winless, and with three loses in three matches, South Africa finished at the bottom of Pool A, having conceded 11 goals without breaching the defence of any of their pool competitors.
