Indian women’s hockey seems to be affected by a twin factor: The semifinal syndrome and sympathy factor. That realization dawned after a 0-4 semi-final humiliation by hosts and eventual gold medalists China at the recent 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. This particular game ought to be analyzed and properly understood, the lessons learnt properly incorporated in the future road map.

Chhattisgarh: The 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women West Zone Championship 2023 concluded today in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh with Hockey Madhya Pradesh being crowned Champions in the Sub Junior Women’s category after their 3-1 triumph over Chhattisgarh Hockey, accompanied on the podium by Hockey Maharashtra, which finished third. In the Sub Junior Men’s category Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey by 8-1 to claim the bragging rights. Chhattisgarh Hockey finished third in the tournament.

Gwalior: The fifth day of the 1st Hockey India Junior and Sub Junior Women Academy Championship 2023 – (Zone A), saw Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and Meghbaran Singh Hockey Academy winning their respective matches in the Sub Junior Women’s category while Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and HIM Academy emerged victorious in their respective games in the Junior Women’s category.
