Hangzhou: The remarkable achievements of the Indian contingent at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 have culminated in a momentous honour as PR Sreejesh, the celebrated goalkeeper and a veteran of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team, was selected to carry the nation's flag during the closing ceremony of the prestigious sporting event.

The night the curtain came down on the Asian Games in Hangzhou, the city’s skyline was glittering in the colours of the rainbow, and more colours — which is not saying much, for the city’s tall buildings are magnificently lit anyway, in changing colours, ranging from purple to golden to electric blue.





Jang Jong-hyun created records in Asian Games

South Korean men's hockey legend Jang Jong-hyun created some records in recently concluded Asian Games 2022, Hangzhou.

Jang Jong-hyun made his debut in senior international field hockey in 2003 completed his twenty years in international hockey. Jang Jong-hyun appeared in 328 international matches. His captain Lee Nam-Yong also completed 21 years in international hockey.

Following is the list of players whose international field hockey career spanned  for twenty or more years:

24 years - Paul Couhan (Canada) 1984-1998
23 years - Dhayan Chand (India) 1926-1949
23 years - Kenneth Pereira (Canada) 1994-2017

Jang Jong-hyun was the top scorer of 19th Asian Games 2022 Hangzhou with 18 goals to his credit beating the record of most goals in an edition created by Abdul Waheed Khan of Pakistan who scored 17 goals in Jakarta 1962.

New Delhi: The 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women North Zone Championship 2023 concluded today in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh with Hockey Haryana being crowned Champions in the Sub Junior Women’s category after their 1-0 triumph over Uttar Pradesh Hockey, accompanied on the podium by Hockey Punjab, which finished third. In the Sub Junior Men’s category Hockey Haryana defeated Uttar Pradesh Hockey by 1-0 to claim the bragging rights. Hockey Punjab finished third in the tournament.
