Netherlands seal Olympic Games 2024 Qualification
The EuroHockey Championships 2023 came to an end today with Netherlands claiming the women’s and men’s title and securing direct qualification to the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Netherlands women were the reigning champions and defended their title against Belgium in the finals, to lift the continental championship, for a record 12th time! Dutch men followed suit, defending their EuroHockey title, in a tense final against England.

England Men's Hockey Team secured their first European-level medal in 14 years after taking silver at the EuroHockey Championships, just missing out on the trophy to the Netherlands. The English side pushed a very impressive Dutch side all the way in the final but it finished 2-1 to the Netherlands.

Monchengladbach — First a thunder delay, then a lengthy, confusing and controversial deliberation between umpires halted England’s bid to win a first major final for 14 years, as the Netherlands somehow weathered the storms from upstairs to win their seventh EuroHockey men’s title in dramatic circumstances on Sunday.

Oman: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team defeated Thailand 5-4 in Salalah, Oman, on Sunday at the Women’s Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier. For India, Navjot Kaur (1’), Monika Dipi Toppo (1’,7’), Mahima Choudhary (20’) and Ajmina Kujur (30’) were on target. For Thailand, Piresram Anongnat (3’), Aunjai Natthakarn (10’, 14’) and Suwapat Konthong (19’) were on target.

Oman: The Indian Men's Hockey Team will begin their campaign at the Men's Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier against Bangladesh in Salalah, Oman on Monday, August 29th. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 29th August to 2nd September. India are placed in the Elite Pool along with Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, Oman, and Bangladesh, while the Challengers Pool consists of Hong Kong China, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran.

On Sunday afternoon, the No. 1 North Carolina field hockey team (1-1) was handed its first loss of the season by the No. 7 Iowa Hawkeyes (2-0). This is UNC's first defeat since November 2021.

Hope Rose drove from the top of the circle looking to break the tie that held for the majority of Maryland field hockey’s battle with Cal. Rose’s shot late in the fourth quarter found the back of the net and put the Terps ahead. Less than two minutes later, she added to Maryland’s advantage, placing the ball back in the corner of the cage, where it was moments earlier.

No. 3 Maryland field hockey found itself tied with Cal and in danger of being upset entering the fourth quarter Sunday afternoon. But as the final period waned, Maryland began to collect penalty corners and finally netted the game-winner with just over six minutes to play when Hope Rose buried a shot into the corner of the goal.
