Red Sticks wrap up season in fifth spot, USA women’s loss to Belgium confirms relegation



Spain had to come from behind three times to finally get the better of an ambitious young German side as the curtain came down on the FIH Hockey Pro League season in Antwerp. The Red Sticks eventually prevailed to claim a 4-3 victory and finish the season in fifth spot on 27 points while Germany ended on 22 and in sixth position.

ANTWERP, Belgium – In the concluding match of the 2022-23 FIH Hockey Pro League season, the No. 16 U.S. Women’s National Team rematched host No. 4 Belgium at Sportcentrum Wilrijkse Plein-Antwerp. The United Eagles left it all out on the field, but could not find what they needed to secure a win and their place in next year’s FIH Hockey Pro League, as they fell to Belgium 1-0.





Indian men’s hockey team finishes fourth - full points table and results

India, with 30 points from 16 matches, finished behind champions Netherlands, Great Britain and Belgium in the FIH Pro League.

Men's

Netherlands men's hockey team retained the FIH Men's Hockey Pro League Championship for the season 2022-23. Great Britain gained the second position. India and Belgium both teams have 30 points each but But Belgium performed better than India, so Belgium got the third position.

Scotland U21 women lose close match away to Ireland



In the third of four test matches Scotland U21 Women lost 1-0 away from home to Ireland. The previous game ended 2-1 to Scotland following a 1-0 win for Ireland, with the series moving into its final match.

Back in early 2022, after a Mixed Round Robin at Lord Wandsworth College, everyone was having teas and liquid refreshments in the Four Horseshoes pub; both homes of Warlocks Veterans Hockey Club, writes Nigel Dean.

A discussion ensued about the possibility of starting a women’s team. The men’s team had been in existence since 1989.
