Red Sticks do the double over Kookaburras while Hockeyroos edge past United Eagles



Action continued from the FIH Hockey Pro League 2022/23 mini-tournament in Hobart as Spain continued their red hot form, relying on their terrific defence to get the better of the hosts and stretching their lead on the top of the table to 7 points! In the women’s competition hosts Australia took on USA in another riveting match that produced plenty of offensive opportunities for two evenly matched sides, but a late goal by Amy Lawton gave the hosts a win and all 3 points.





Clinical Spain rolls on in Hobart



Spain have continued their dream run in Hobart after defeating the Kookaburras 3-1 on the penultimate day of the FIH Pro League mini tournament in the Tasmanian capital.

HOBART, Australia – The No. 15 U.S. Women’s National Team met No. 2 Australia for the second time in the FIH Hockey Pro League mini-tournament at the Tasmania Hockey Centre in Hobart, Australia. The Hockeyroos jumped to an early lead in the first quarter, but a poised USA equalized in the second off a penalty stroke. An even match, Australia notched the game-winner under 3 minutes to go for the 2-1 win.

Rourkela: The box office ticket sales & Redemption of online tickets for the upcoming FIH Hockey Pro League 2022/23 in Rourkela will commence on 6th March 2023. Fans can buy as well as redeem the online purchased tickets from the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium between 11 am to 7pm and on 8th March, on the occasion of Holi festivities, the box office will function between 4pm to 7pm. Tickets could be purchased / redeemed at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium Gate No 2 for North and East Stands & Gate No 6 for South and West Stands respectively.

Bengaluru: On the seventh day of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship 2023, Services Sports Control Board claimed another victory, while I.T.B.P. Central Hockey Team and Sashastra Seema Bal played out a 3-3 draw.

UCD prepared for this game with a rearranged fixture on Thursday night against Railway Union . At the end of quarter three they found themselves trailing 0-2 and looking like crashing to defeat . A barnstorming fourth quarter that saw Railway Union reduced to 9 players for a period due to two green cards saw them comeback to secure a 3-2 victory and go into this encounter with Old Alexandra level on points with League leaders Loreto.  Old Alex  were missing key players.  Emilie Ryan Doyle was absent from the hosts defence and experienced player Jeamie Deacon also missed out through injury. Old Alexandra had prepared for this game with a busy weekend last time out. They bowed out of the Jacqui Potter Cup at the semi-final stage, losing 1-4 to Loreto on Sunday,  having beaten Pegasus 2-0 the previous day to maintain their EYHL League title challenge.





Hockey player who worked as daily wager given job as coach

Paramjit was an ace hockey player in the past and had represented the state in several national-level competitions.


A video showing Paramjit Kumar doing manual labour had gone viral recently.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday handed over an appointment letter to former hockey player Paramjit Kumar -- who was working as a daily wager in a grain market -- as a coach in the sports department.
