Kookaburras register first win of the season while Las Leonas edge past Hockeyroos



Action continued from the FIH Hockey Pro League 2022/23 mini-tournament in Hobart as Kookaburras put the loss against Spain behind them to register their first win of the season against Los Leones in a gritty encounter. Tim Brand, Tom Craig and Nathan Ephraums were on the scoresheet for Australia. In the second game Las Leonas avenged their opening game loss against the Hockeyroos in Hobart, winning an incredibly tight encounter 1-0, with Lucina von der Heyde’s goal proving to be the difference between the two sides.





Kookaburras find their mojo to overcome Argentina



The Kookaburras have returned to winning ways with a character filled 3-0 victory over Argentina in their FIH Pro League match at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre.





Inexperienced Hockeyroos gallant in narrow defeat to Argentina



A single deflection goal was all that separated the Hockeyroos and Argentina as the South Americans secured a 1-0 win at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre in the FIH Pro League tonight.

Australian field hockey forward and midfielder Eddie Ockenden is the only Australian  who appeared in more than 400 senior outdoor international hockey matches.

Edward Clyve Ockenden was born in Hobart Australia on 3 April 1987 made his debut in senior international hockey in Azlan Shah Cup at Ipoh in 2006.

Upto the current FIH Pro League season 2022-23 Eddie Ockenden played 413 matches and he scored 72 goals in international hockey.

Former South African fullback Craig Fulton becomes the ninth foreign chief coach of the Indian men’s hockey team. Fulton would have an exceedingly challeging job of building on the positive strides the national team made under outgoing coach Graham Reid. Fulton was part of the South African men’s hockey team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics where the African side made all sit up and take notice of them, holding mighty Australia to a 1-1 draw in the pool phase and eventually finished 10th. Fulton formed a lethal combination at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics alongside profilic goal-scorer Greg Nicol (currently New Zealand men’s hockey team coach) and Gregg Clark (outgoing Assistant coach of the Indian men’s team).
