Shootout bonuses for New Zealand, Germany men while Leonas put away Die Danas



The New Zealand men earned the first points of their season with the bonus point coming in a shootout after a 1-1 draw with Spain. Dominic Dixon made some big stops to deny all Spain attempts in the shootouts and,ultimately, secure the bonus point. Over in Mendoza, the Leonas blasted past the German women, 4-2, in front of packed stands thanks to two goals from Maria Jose Granatto. The German men picked up two more points with a 4-3 shootout victory over Argentina following a 2-2 regulation score. Christopher Ruhr provided the heroics — scoring once in the game and providing a goal and two penalty stroke finishes in the shootouts.





Upbeat India look to finish city leg on a high vs Spain

Spain will pose a stiff challenge and skipper Harmanpreet said they will need to stick to their own plans.

India will look to produce another attacking display and finish their Bhubaneswar leg on a high when they take on Spain in their reverse fixture of the FIH Hockey Pro League.

Tayyab Ikram (MAC) elected as new President of FIH



Lausanne, Switzerland: Tayyab Ikram (MAC) was elected as new President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) today by the FIH Congress. Of the 126 votes submitted by the member National Associations, Tayyab Ikram attained the required absolute majority of more than half the votes, receiving 79 votes to the 47 given to Marc Coudron (BEL). The duration of the term of the new FIH President will be of 2 years in order to complete the mandate of previous FIH President Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra who resigned on 18 July.
