South Africans encouraged to vote in the FIH Hockey Star Awards



South African Hockey continues to punch above its weight on the international stage and leave an undeniable mark on the sport globally. South Africa has once again been recognised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) by having two nominees in the FIH Hockey Star Awards. The Awards are hockeys equivalent to the FIFA Best Awards and are the highest individual accolades available for International hockey stars.

DEFENDING champions Sabah got off to a convincing start when they beat Kedah 3-0 in the Malaysia Games men's hockey at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.

Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) Girls Team Richer with Netherlands Exposure Tour



It’s not an everyday thing to see a domestic hockey academy undertake an exposure tour abroad. Gwalior-based Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) girls team must have had a plenty to gain from their recent three-week trip to the Netherlands. The 20-member MPHA under-18 girls team played as many as ten exposure games against various Dutch clubs such as Almere, Kampong, Gantoise, Bloemendaal, Laren, Den Bosch, and HGC. It is important to note that former Hockey India High Performance Manager and Indian men’s hockey team coach Roelant Oltmans was instrumental in working out the modalities of the Netherlands exposure trip, having visited India last month to spent time at the MHPA.





Saints take decisive step

England Hockey chief executive Nick Pink has said sports governing bodies are having to teach basic skills to young players that they are not learning in school. He added that this was one of the driving factors that led to the England women’s and men’s teams writing a letter to Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak last month calling on government support to back provision of PE and team sports at schools.
