CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The second-ranked North Carolina field hockey team opened its home schedule Friday with a 4-3 win over No. 13 Princeton at Karen Shelton Stadium. Senior Erin Matson scored twice for the Tar Heels, who also got goals from freshman Ryleigh Heck and sophomore Lisa Slinkert to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The No. 2 North Carolina field hockey team (3-0, 0-0 ACC) held on to its early lead to top the No. 13 Princeton Tigers (0-1, 0-0 Ivy League) , 4-3 on Friday night at Karen Shelton Stadium.

Up by a goal with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game, No. 4 Maryland field hockey seemed determined to find the goal to put the game out of reach. In transition, Maryland sophomore forward Hope Rose found graduate midfielder Bibi Donraadt sprinting toward Boston College’s cage. Donraadt — who led the team in goals last season — controlled the ball and sent a missile into the left side of the cage to extend Maryland’s lead to 3-1.
