The FIH Women’s World Cup did not go as expected for the Indian women’s hockey team but striker Navneet Kaur on Thursday said the side will look to better its performance at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. India finished ninth in the World Cup.

With a little over two weeks to go for the Indian Men’s Hockey Team’s first match at the Commonwealth Games 2022, the National team’s preparations for the prestigious tournament are carrying on in full swing. India’s Vice-Captain for the tournament , Harmanpreet Singh expressed that the National side will try its best to win a Gold Medal. “Our team has been performing well, We played well in FIH Hockey Pro League as well and therefore the confidence is high within the group. We will look to keep winning matches. We will definitely try our level best to win Gold at the Commonwealth Games 2022."

Wales v South Africa: A history

Wales women v South Africa women
Hockey history between South Africa and Wales goes back to well before World War II when the South African came to Wales on tour. The game against Wales was played on 8th January 1927 at the Whitchurch Hospital Athletic Ground, Cardiff at 12.25pm. Prior to the game, the South African team practiced at Weston Super Mare beore being the guest of the Welsh Women’s Hockey Association in Cardiff.
