Shootout victories favour India women and Netherlands,England men, while China and England women find victories over USA and Belgium



It was a busy day of FIH Pro League action both at HC Rotterdam and the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London. In women’s competition, two goals from Hong Li propelled China 3-2 over the USA on neutral soil, while the Indian women charged back to take the Argentina Leonas to a 2-2 tie and ultimately earn a 2-1 shootout victory. The England women rallied back with an exciting second half to beat Belgium 2-1.

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – At the HC Rotterdam in The Netherlands, the No. 15 U.S. Women’s National Team took on No. 13 China in their first meeting of the FIH Hockey Pro League. Scoreless after the first quarter, China capitalized twice in the second and again in the fourth. A determined USA fought hard to cut the deficit, but their late push fell short, 3-2.

The Indian men’s hockey team’s FIH Pro League 2021-22 title hopes received a heavy blow after they lost in the shootout to table toppers Netherlands at the Hazelaarweg Stadion in Rotterdam on Saturday.





Indian men's team loses to Netherlands in shoot-out

The game went into the shootout after the teams were level at 2-2 at the end of normal time.

The Indian men's hockey team produced a lion-hearted performance before going down 1-4 to leader Netherlands in the shoot-out after both the sides were locked 2-2 at regulation time to virtually crash out of the title race of the FIH Pro League here on Saturday.





Savita Punia heroics hand India shootout victory over champions Argentina

The Indian hockey team held the Tokyo silver medallists to a 3-3 draw after regulation time before captain Savita Punia made four saves during the shootout.

The Indian women’s hockey team held champions-elect Argentina to a 3-3 draw in regulation time before captain Savita Punia handed her side a 2-1 shootout win in their FIH Pro League 2021-22 first leg match at the Hazelaarweg Stadion in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on Saturday.
