Peris fires Hockeyroos to victory over New Zealand



Brooke Peris pounced twice to edge the Hockeyroos past the Black Sticks 2-1 in the second match of the Trans-Tasman Series in Auckland tonight.





Tough Loss for Vantage Black Sticks as Hockeyroos Snatch Late Victory

Match two of the Sentinel Homes Trans-Tasman series ended in defeat for the Vantage Black Sticks Women as they went down 2-1 in a hotly fought contest in Auckland.



The Australians looked the better of the two teams in the first half earning a goal off a rebound from a well saved penalty corner in the first quarter. Debutante goalkeeper Kirsty Nation did well to stop the first shot at goal but was unable to get in front of the ball when the Hockeyroos captain, Brooke Peris, managed to poke it in off the rebound.

The 33-year-old hockey umpire from Uttarakhand has indeed enhanced his stature as a hockey umpire in the 2021-22 FIH Pro League – be it as an on-field umpire or as a video umpire, he has left no one in doubt that he has a bright hockey umpiring future ahead of him.

Two years after he resigned after a long-standing stint as Hockey India's High-Performance Director, David John is back in India. The Australian is currently working as a director of hockey with Odisha having taken on the role at the start of the month.
