Germany show character to reverse results with England



A super opening goal from German forward Charlotte Stapenhorst signalled her team's intent as Germany put four goals past England to reverse the previous day's results. Later, in the men's match between the two nations, Germany showed their character as they clung onto a 3-2 lead despite spending most of the final quarter with 10 players on the pitch.

Germany gained revenge against England by triumphing on the second day of back-to-back matches in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League in Mönchengladbach.

England’s Men lost a thrilling contest 3-2 against Germany ensuring the sides shared the spoils across the two days of FIH Pro League action.

Fresh cycle, new players, indifferent results. That’s the facts which face England or Great Britain teams at the start of an Olympic path. And that was summed in Mönchengladbach yesterday when England followed up a brace of victories with defeats in their men’s and women’s Pro League matches with Germany.





Honamas Win ‘Penalty Corner Festival’ Against England



The Danas had shown the way, the Honamas followed suit. After coach André Henning’s team lost their first game against England, the Honamas won 3-2 on Thursday. The goals for the Honamas all came from a penalty corner from Malte Hellwig, Tom Grambusch and Gonzalo Peillat. David Condon (open play) and Sam Ward also scoring from a penalty corner for England.





Danas Win to get Revenge Against England

After the unfortunate 4-3 defeat on Wednesday, the Danas did much better in the second game against the English, winning the match 4-1. The goals for the German team were scored by Charlotte Stapenhorst, Nike Lorenz, Hannah Gablac and Pia Maertens. With Hannah Martin on the scoresheet for the Englishwomen after a penalty corner.

England Hockey Saddened By Passing of Mike Ward

England Hockey were saddened to hear of the death of Mike Ward, a key figure in hockey across the South, Hampshire and Dorset, for very many years. He passed away in February aged 79.
