Delight for South Africa, Zimbabwe endure a stormy match against Netherlands and USA win crucial Pan-Am clash



It was a mix of relief and delight for the host nation as South Africa defeated Ireland in a nervy Pool B clash that would decide who progressed to the quarter-finals.

The Netherlands have capped off their group stage matches with a thumping 18-0 victory Zimbabwe at the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Women's Junior World Cup in Potchefstroom.





South Africa secure Quarter-Final Spot with victory over Ireland



South Africa and Ireland faced off at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup in Potchefstroom today with a place in the top 8 of the tournaments up for grabs. Both sides had lost their opening games to England and without Ukraine’s participation at the event, it meant this was a knockout match for both sides. The two sides have plenty of history in different formats and in different age groups, but it was the first ever meeting between the two at Junior Women’s Level.

Ireland’s dream of a Junior World Cup quarter-final berth came to an end as a single Jean-Leigh du Toit goal saw hosts South Africa edge them out 1-0 in Potchefstroom.

On the day that the Netherlands was on the field for two and a half hours and set a record score of 18-0 against Zimbabwe, it was also a party for South Africa and the United States. We will also see these teams in the quarterfinals.





Dutch Eves Tower Over the 9th Junior World Cup



Three-time champions Netherlands are having a ball in the 9th Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup at Potchefstroom, South Africa. The Orange brigade have emerged as the team to beat, slamming a whopping 38 goals in their three Pool A games. The Dave-Smolenaars-coached Dutch outfit are turning into a mean goal-scoring machine at the Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup, winning all their Pool matches by double-digit scorelines. Netherlands hammered USA 10-0 in their tournament opener, and subsequently handed a 11-0 defeat to Canada and further upped their ante, bulldozing Zimbabwe 18-0 to leave no one in doubt who the Pool A toppers are.

POTCHEFSTROOM, South Africa – After a slight weather delay pushed back the start time, the U.S.  U-21 Women’s National Team took the pitch to face Canada in their final pool game of the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup, taking place at North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa. With a spot in the Quarterfinals up for grabs, USA started slow but behind a two goal fourth quarter defeated Canada 4-0.

Graham Reid: We have habit of not finishing games when we are in control

The Indian men's hockey team might have won its FIH Pro League double-header against England but head coach Graham Reid is not completely pleased with its performance.
