India and Netherlands turn on the style in Potchefstroom, South Africa



Both the Netherlands and India men's teams gave masterclasses in their particular styles of hockey in the first of a series of FIH Hockey Pro League matches taking place in Potchefstroom, South Africa. India tormented France with their free running and swift changes in the direction of attack, while the Dutch were the epitome of elegant, clinical and relentless hockey as they contained and then overwhelmed the ambitions of South Africa.

The Netherlands and India both strolled to victory in the men's International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Olympic bronze medallist India began their FIH Pro League Hockey campaign with a bang as they thrashed France 5-0 in a thoroughly dominant display on Tuesday. After a barren first quarter, India slammed three goals in the second before finding the target twice in the third. India got four penalty corners in the match from which they scored two. France got three PCs but wasted all of them. Harmanpreet Singh and Varun Kumar scored from penalty corners in the 21st and 24th minutes respectively before Shamsher Singh made it 3-0 in the 28th minute with a field goal.





Netherlands welcome South Africa to the FIH Pro League with a big result



South Africa started their historic adventure at the FIH Pro league tonight at the North West University in Potchefstroom against a Dutch side they have not beaten in over 20 years. It was a welcome sight for South African fans across the globe as the Men formed part of the esteemed and highly pedigreed FIH Pro League for the first time.
