FH Tops Northwestern In Thriller For Program's 11th Title



CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina earned the 11th NCAA Field Hockey Championship in program history on Sunday afternoon at Karen Shelton Stadium, winning in a penalty shootout in front of the largest home crowd in program history.

The No. 1 North Carolina field hockey team defeated No. 2 Northwestern 2-1 in penalty shootouts to win its fifth national title in six years and the 11th in program history. The win came on UNC's home turf at Karen Shelton Stadium to deliver head coach Erin Matson  the first national championship of her coaching career — in her first year at the helm and the age of 23.

Lakers Hockey Club were held to a 0-0 draw by Blazers Hockey Club on Sunday evening as the 2023 Africa Cup for Club Champions Tournament (ACCC) entered day two in Blantyre, Malawi.
