Australia seal Olympic Games 2024 qualification



The Australian men’s and women’s team come out on top against New Zealand at the 2023 Oceania Cup, sealing their qualification to the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris, where they join hosts France, becoming the first team to directly qualify for the Games as the continental champions of Oceania!

In a captivating clash that kept hockey enthusiasts on the edge of their seats, Japan showcased their prowess by defeating Korea with a resounding score of 5-3 to secure the third-place spot in the Asian Champions Trophy at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Saturday. The match witnessed a level score of 3-3 after 52 minutes, but Japan's exceptional gameplay shone through as they netted two crucial goals within a span of four minutes, ultimately clinching the well-deserved victory.

India won the gold medal in the Men's Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2023 beating Malaysia in the final by 4 - 3 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.


Japan defeated South Korea by 5 - 3 to win the bronze medal.

Pakistan defeated China 6 - 1 to get the fifth position.

Chennai: The Indian Men's Hockey Team defeated Malaysia 4-3 in a high-octane Final to lift the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023 on Saturday here at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Egmore.  Taking their Asian Champions Trophy titles to a grand total of four, India becomes the most successful team in the history of the tournament.





India wins its fourth Asian Champions Trophy in style



Full credits to Malaysia. They stunned the packed stadium with a 3-1 lead, and put the formidable looking India on backfoot till at least half time.  It was a big mountain climb for India. They are aware the who is who of the State in the stadium and the entire country against television are watching them. Its time to deliver and lift the morale of the team to next level. They did it, coming back from 1-3 deficit to equalize and then with an aesthetic and athletic goal snatched the Cup from the fighting but by then exhausted Malaysians. India won its fourth Asian Champions Trophy after giving anxious moments. The 4-3 victory will go down in the history as one of the greatest fight backs of recent times.

In the end, the fitter team won.

For three quarters the Indians chased the ball, the game and the Malaysians, desperately seeking the elusive moment of inspired magic that would help them put ahead. It came in the 45th minute, twice over, and it turned the game on its head as India came back from a two-goal deficit to win 4-3 and clinch an unprecedented 4th title at the Asian Champions Trophy here on Saturday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia almost silenced the 9,000-crowd at the Mayor Radhakhrishnan Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, but fell 4-3 in the Asian Champions Trophy final.





Japan defeats Korea 5-3 to claim third place

With the scores level at 3-3 after 52 minutes, Japan scored two goals in four minutes to clinch the contest 5-3 in the Asian Champions Trophy at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Saturday.

Japan was the better side on the evening on all metrics with South Korea’s ageing side pushing it to the end before ultimately just inching ahead to claim the third place in the Asian Champions Trophy.

The Indian men’s hockey team on Saturday produced a resilient performance and staged an incredible comeback to defeat Malaysia 4-3, clinching its fourth Asian Champions Trophy title at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai. Malaysia took control of the early tempo in the tense final but a poor tackle on Selvam Karthi earned India a penalty corner which was converted by Jugraj in the ninth minute with a strong drag flick that he rocketed past the Malaysian custodian and defenders.

National team players free to turn out for domestic competitions, foreign clubs: Hockey India

There was a time when India’s national hockey players regularly turned out for their employers in national championships and major domestic tournaments, before the federation and a series of coaches put a stop to it, citing packed calendars and injury concerns. Now, it might all change.
