KUALA LUMPUR: The Speedy Tigers fought gallantly to beat South Korea 1-0 in their final round-robin Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) match in Chennai on Wednesday.





South Korea qualifies for semifinal despite 1-0 loss to Malaysia

In what was a crucial game, Korea failed to exert any real pressure on its Malaysian counterparts, who, despite the narrow win, looked in control for most parts.

Chennai: The Indian Men's Hockey Team beat Pakistan 4-0 to finish on top of the table at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023 here on Wednesday. Performing in front of a roaring home audience at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team put on a brilliant display, dominating their opponents from the get-go.





India thrashes Pakistan 4-0; qualifies for semifinals as table-topper

The result kept India unbeaten and also knocked the opponents out of the semifinals. Pakistan dropped to the fifth spot, level with Korea and Japan on five points but with an inferior goal difference.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Harmanpreet Singh may have faced flak for missing penalty corners by the dozen but when it came to the crunch, the India captain stood up and delivered for a 4-0 victory against Pakistan in the Asian Champions Trophy here on Wednesday.

CHENNAI: Skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored twice as India beat arch-rivals Pakistan comprehensively by a 4-0 margin in their final round-robin league match to cruise into the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy on an unbeaten note on Wednesday.

India brought the round-robin phase of hockey's Asian Champions Trophy at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai to a conclusion with a 4-0 victory to end Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semi- finals.





Fulton hails India’s “structured” and “consistent” game against Pakistan

Pakistan coach blames umpiring error after defeat to India

Pakistan lost 0-4 to India to crash out of the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy. But there was a contentious moment in the 2nd minute of the game.

Chennai: Pakistan failed to register a single goal as India crashed four past them to send them out of the 2023 Hockey Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai on Wednesday. Their head coach, Muhammad Saqlain, however, claimed that Pakistan were in fact denied a legitimate goal in the second minute of the match because of an 'umpiring error' and that this error was responsible for changing the momentum of the match.





India can now physically match best hockey teams in the world, feels assistant coach Halkett

The current Indian men’s hockey team, according to Halkett, will be a huge threat to all the top teams because of its attack and defence.

Rhett Halkett, the new assistant and analytical coach of the Indian men’s hockey team, has played against the current lot of P. R. Sreejesh, Manpreet Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Mandeep Singh. The 37-year-old South African, who has played in three World Cups (2010, ‘14 and ‘18), two Commonwealth Games (2010 and ‘14) and the 2012 London Olympics, felt that the Indian team has improved leaps and bounds since he saw it in London.

CHENNAI: In early July, the news of Hockey India League's (HIL) revival was welcomed by the sport's fraternity across the globe. ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved recommendations of the high-profile committee on hockey affairs according to which the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has directed that an immediate reference should be sent to the Federal Investing Agency (FIA) to investigate the matter and take action(s) against the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) office bearers who misused their official authority.
