Black Sticks use second half surge to register first win of the season



FIH Hockey Pro League 2022/23 action continued from Wellington, as hosts New Zealand took on USA in the second game between the two sides. New Zealand, who had registered draws in their opening two encounters, registered their first win of the season, scoring three unanswered goals in the second half, after the teams had gone into the half on level terms.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand – In the final game of their New Zealand leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League, the No. 16 U.S. Women’s National Team took on hosts the No. 9 Black Sticks. Entering the final quarter down 2-1, the determined United Eagles saw a goal get turned away as they ultimately fell 4-1. The score line doesn’t reflect the closeness of the contest as New Zealand converted on an open net on their way to victory.

Only openly gay player in the men's Hockey One league Davis Atkin to make international debut for the Kookaburras

The first openly gay male hockey player in Australia's national league is set to join the Kookaburras, the Australian Men's Senior National Hockey Team.

Hockey India plans to introduce zonal system tournaments at U-17, U-19 age group levels

Dilip Tirkey, a veteran of 400 international matches, reiterated the importance of national championships and said a zonal system needs to be introduced at the grassroot level to give more game time to budding players.

New Delhi: In its bid to develop the game at the grassroots level, Hockey India is planning to introduce zonal system tournaments in the sub-junior (U-17) and junior (U-19) categories across the country, said sport body’s president Dilip Tirkey.





Bill Felton 1940 – 2023



England Hockey is saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Felton after a sudden illness on 13 February, five days after his 83rd birthday. Bill was an incredibly active administrator within our sport who was recognised for his outstanding services to hockey.
