Ireland and South Africa to face off in the finals of the inaugural FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup South Africa 2022



High quality hockey in both semi-finals were settled with moments of brilliance as Ireland and South Africa booked their spots in the first ever finals of the FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup South Africa 2022, with the winning team earning a promotion into the FIH Hockey Pro League for the 2023-24 season.

Magnificent Ireland book historic Nations Cup Final berth



A flawless third quarter led by Ireland captain and player of the match Sean Murray brought Ireland to within 60 minutes of a maiden FIH Pro League berth as they beat Malaysia comfortably in the semi-final of the Nations Cup this morning.

KUALA LUMPUR: A two-minute blitz saw Ireland beat Malaysia 3-0 in the semi-finals of the Nations Cup in Potchefstroom, South Africa today.





South Africa seal spot in final with shootout win

In the inaugural FIH Hockey Nations Cup Semi-Finals South Africa, the hosts, met up with the Pool B winner Korea for a place in the final and a chance to take on Ireland for a spot in the FIH Hockey Pro League. It was a game that marked Keenan Horne’s 100th test cap for the South Africans and they were looking to give the long-time servant a special game for the milestone.

India lose series 4-1 to Australia

The Indian hockey team lost the final match 5-4. India captain Harmanpreet Singh and Australia’s Tom Wickham each scored a brace in the final tie.

The Indian men’s hockey team lost the five-match Test series against Australia 4-1 after going down by a 5-4 scoreline in the final match at the Mate Stadium in Adelaide on Sunday. India’s only victory in the series came in the third match.





Kookaburras rebound to seal the series over India



The Kookaburras have won the best of five series against India after recording a come from behind 5-1 victory in Match 4 at Adelaide’s MATE Stadium this afternoon.

Australian applied different gear in the second half to outplay and outscore India 5-1 in the fourth match today at Mate Stadium, Adelaide. With that, the fate of the series also decided. When India won the third Test the other day, and thus brought the Series to a precarious 2-1 status, it was expected it will try to win or at least try to draw today’s encounter to keep the Series alive till the last match is played out. It was not to be. However, the course of the match which it took in favour of the hosts, did not appear in the first half, scoring acts rested to last few minutes of the half. The match saw boh teams playing two different halves.





India Men Brought Down to Earth by Australia



The Indian men’s hockey team, who must have been feeling on ‘top of the world’ after a rare victory over world number one Australia in the third Test, were brought down to earth by the Kookaburras, who racked up a clincial 5-1 win to clinch the 5 Test series.

Dilpreet Singh gave his team the lead in the 25th minute after the Indians defended resolutely in the goalless first quarter, but their lead lasted just five minutes as the Aussies bossed the remainder of the game.

Adelaide: India made a promising start by taking a first-half lead but its defence fell apart later as the team lost the fourth hockey Test 1-5 to Australia and conceded an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series in Adelaide on Saturday.





Can India solve their penalty corner problem before Hockey World Cup?

India have converted 5 out of 28 penalty corners in the ongoing test series vs Australia. While this looks decent on paper, it hides a problem that has not been solved since the retirement of Rupinder Pal Singh.

India currently have the world's best drag-flicker leading from the front. Captain Harmanpreet Singh, who has racked up an unbelievable 36 goals this year, has continued his form into the ongoing Test series against Australia in Adelaide, converting two penalty corners of the 28 won by India.
