Ireland fell to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of France in Calais to leave their chances of qualifying for next summer’s European Championships top tier all but over.

Gareth Furlong's goal proved enough for Wales to beat Scotland 1-0 in a EuroHockey Championship qualifier in Glasgow.

Scotland men were defeated 1-0 by Wales in a very close match in Men’s EuroHockey Qualifier D in Uddingston. Wales top the table on six points with one game left to play.





England Off To A Good Start In The European Hockey Qualifiers



Fielding a full-strength squad following their Commonwealth Games success, England made a convincing start to their European Qualifier campaign with a high scoring 15-0 win over Croatia.  The gulf in world rankings showed as England dominated possession and were 8-0 up by half time, before scoring another seven in the second half.   Wales also won comfortably in their first match, which sets up Saturday’s clash between the home nations as a potential tournament decider.

There was a sense of the unknown ahead of England women’s first match after Commonwealth Games. They were in no mood to hold back, however, as a full-strength England outmuscled lowly Croatia 15-0 in Durham, with Hannah Martin scoring four.

Scotland women defeat France in Dunkirk to make it two wins from two in Euro qualifiers



Scotland women made it two wins from two in EuroHockey Qualifier D in Dunkirk with a tremendous 2-0 win over France. Goals from Fiona Burnet and Heather McEwan gave Scotland the victory and keep the Scots top of the table.

The French Hockey Federation (FFH) has signed a new cooperation agreement as players continue their preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics.





USA Field Hockey Names New High Performance Staff



COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – USA Field Hockey is pleased to name David Passmore as the new U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach. Tracey Fuchs will also join the USWNT’s staff as an assistant coach. The High Performance Team will also include Craig Parnham, who will step into the role of High Performance Director, effective October 1.





African nations ready to step onto Hockey ID World Stage



Hockey ID – the world-wide term for hockey players with intellectual disabilities – has gained in popularity at different rates across the globe. In some areas the sport is now at such a point of development and progress that national teams will be heading to Berlin in 2023 for the Special Olympics. For other nations, they are at the start of their journey.





Field Hockey Set To Meet Michigan In Season Opener



WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – North Carolina opens the 2022 field hockey season on Friday with a top-three matchup, facing Michigan at 2:30 p.m. as part of this year's ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Games are set for Wake Forest's Kentner Stadum, with the Demon Deacons hosting Iowa at 5 in the second part of the day's double-header.

The No. 2 North Carolina field hockey team will kick off the 2022 season on Friday at the ACC-Big Ten Challenge with a matchup against No. 3 Michigan, followed by a match against No. 5 Iowa to cap off the weekend on Sunday.

Holding an open competition for the starting goalie position isn’t new for Maryland field hockey coach Missy Meharg. But it isn’t something she’s had to do for a few years — since 2018, Noelle Frost has started a majority of games in net.
