Netherlands edge Leonas, Spain women split with England, Belgium and England men prevail



The Leonas had a chance to seal their fate as FIH Pro League champions with a win over the Netherlands but a second 1-1 draw left Argentina to suffer another shootout loss. This time it was 3-2 in sudden death shootouts. Argentina still sits in first place with 38 points in 14 games, while the Netherlands now have 23 points in 10 games. Over in London, Spain fought back to split the weekend with an important 2-0 win over England.

The Netherlands continued to be a thorn to Argentina as they prevented their opponents from claiming the women’s International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League title by repeating yesterday’s shoot-out heroics at the HC Union.





Fourth Straight Win For England Men



England’s men made it four wins on the bounce with another good display against South Africa.

South Africa and England met for their second FIH Pro League encounter at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Club in London today. England were looking to continue their good run of form which had seen them win three in succession, while the South Africans were desperate for at least a better start and to take the competition a bit further as the classroom of the Pro League continues to dish out hard lessons for the African champions.





Resilient Spain Take All Three Points In London



Spain's women took all three points thanks to a very resilient performance and a brilliant display from goalkeeper Melanie Garcia.





England endure differing results in London



England’s men made it four home wins on the bounce ahead of their clash with the European champions next weekend.

PETALING JAYA: A Razie Rahim hattrick helped Malaysia stay alive in the Asia Cup as they survived a late fightback from India to snatch a 3-3 draw in Jakarta.

The revival story of the young Indian men’s hockey team at the 11th Asia Cup was very much in tact as they clawed their way back from conceding two first half goals to scramble out a fighting 3-3 draw against Malaysia – a result that puts them on course for a place in the final. Razie Rahim’s sizzling run with shorties continued as he provided a two-goal cushion to Malaysia before India launched a robust riposte in the second half with Vishnukant Singh scoring off a penalty corner rebound after Abhishek Lakra’s drag-flick was parried away by the Malaysian goalkeeper.

The Indian men’s hockey team came from behind to hold Malaysia to a 3-3 draw in its second Asia Cup 2022 Super 4s match at the GBK Sports Complex Hockey Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia on Sunday.





India eyes outright win against Korea to book Asia Cup final berth

India had almost clinched a spot in the title clash on Sunday before Razie Rahim turned out to be Malaysia's saviour with a hat-trick in an enthralling 3-3 draw in their second 'Super 4' encounter.

Defending champion India would look for an outright win against South Korea in its final Super 4 round-robin league match to book their place in the final of the Asia Cup men's hockey tournament here on Tuesday.

The 50th Anniversary edition of California Cup is set for two exciting finals on Memorial Day at Moorpark College. The Zoo Animals will take on the Colorado Bears for women’s title – first for either team. The men’s final will pit the Bulldogs against the LA Tigers.

In women’s first semifinal on Sunday, the Zoo Animals edged out the veteran RUSH’d 1-0 in a tightly contested match on a goal by Laura Hurff. The second semifinal saw the Colorado Bears easily beat the Olympic Club 3-0 on first-half goals by Tellulah Fuhs, Katie Meyer and Emma Bozek.

In men’s first semifinal, Bulldogs easily shutout USA U-21 4-0 as USA Men’s Aki Kaepeller started the scoring in the 2nd minute on a penalty corner. Spain’s Marc Salles and USA Men’s Parampal Bajwa followed with field goals for a 3-0 first-half lead. The former Dutch international, Bob de Voogd scored the only goal in the 2nd period for a 4-0 win.

The second semifinal saw the LA Tigers beat HFS Adidas 2-0 on goals by Canadian imports Mark Pearson AND Scott Tupper. Both teams had played to a 2-2 tie in pool play on Saturday and also faced each other in the 2017 title match, where the Tigers prevailed 2-1.
