England women put three past USA, Argentina men hold on in thriller with South Africa



After a very even and scoreless opening half England was able to capitalize and take down the United States, 3-1, in North Carolina. Holly Pearne-Webb and Grace Balsdon capitalized from penalty corners while Elena Rayer, also named Player of the match, tallied on a brilliant deflection for England. Despite the score line both teams had quality opportunities. It was a bright moment for USA captain Amanda Magadan celebrating her 100th international at home, while both teams were able to give some youngsters an opportunity to get some experience including several just returned from the FIH Junior World Cup.

England women made up for a scoreless opening half by beating the United States 3-1 in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.





Tremendous Effort from South Africa falls just short in Argentinean defeat

South Africa continued their inaugural debut campaign in the FIH Pro League in Buenos Aires as they took on Argentina. South Africa are participating in the tournament for this season only as a stand-in for Australia who had withdrawn due to COVID Related travel restrictions.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C – For the first time in more than 800 days, the No. 15 U.S. Women’s National Team hosted an FIH Hockey Pro League game in the United States at Karen Shelton Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. After a scoreless first half, No. 4 England tallied two in the third and another in the fourth before USA came back to cut the margin in the final minute but fell 3-1.





Saturday’s contest marked a career milestone


USA athlete Amanda Magadan (Randolph, N.J.) who played in her 100th international cap for Team USA.

Govt to build 9 more astro turfs in hockey push



Bhubaneswar: With Odisha set to host the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup in January next year, the Naveen govt is leaving no   stone unturned to ramp up the state’s sports infrastructure. As part of this effort, it has decided to set up astro turfs at nine more places in six districts, apart from the state’s hockey cradle Sundargarh, where 17 such facilities are already being created.
