Potchefstroom, South Africa: A Dutch masterclass in teamwork and a magnificent goal scoring performance by Germany means that we now know who will be contesting the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2021 on Tuesday 12 April.

Germany annihilated England to advance to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Women's Junior World Cup final while a Dutch masterclass against India confirmed their place in the decider in South Africa.

POTCHEFSTROOM, South Africa – In the 5th-8th placement game of FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup, taking place at North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa, the U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team took on Pan American opponent, Argentina. Trailing just 1-0 at halftime, a determined USA was unable to capitalize on their opportunities and kept the game close until the Los Leones extended their lead to 2-0 with 10 minutes to go for the win.





Korea KO South Africa with determined defensive display



South Africa and Korea have previously met four times at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup, spanning all the way back to their first meeting in 1997. They had however not locked horns since 2005 with Korea triumphing 2-0 on that occasion. They renewed rivalries in Potchefstroom with a place in the top 6 on offer for the winner.





Dutch outclass and tame valiant India

The Netherlands weathered India’s early storm before winning the first semi-final of the FIH Women’s Junior World Cup 3-0 in Potschefstroom, South Africa, on Sunday. All three goals were of sheer quality, especially the first scored by Tessa Beetsma that followed 18 passes the length and breadth of the pitch.





Fighting India Find the Going Tough Against Formidable Dutch



It was on August 2013 – venue – Monchengladbach – the Dutch overwhelmed India 3-0 in the semifinal of the 7th Junior Women’s World Cup at Santiago – a similar script was written at Potchefstroom in the 9th Junior Women’s World Cup as the Blueshirts went down to the Orange brigade by an identical margin. The pattern of the 2013 edition semifinal was similar to the 2022 edition semifinal – the Dutch scored a first half goal and added two two late goals in the 2015 edition at Santiago and at Potchefstroom, the Netherlands once again scored in the first half and scoring two late goals to march into their fourth consecutive final of the Junior Women’s World Cup.

Drake Appointed U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach



COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Greg Drake has been appointed by USA Field Hockey as the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team and will lead the program through the remainder of the 2021-22 FIH Hockey Pro League season. This follows the resignation of Anthony Farry for personal reasons.





Cookstown and Ards claim EYHL2 season’s medals



Cookstown and Ards completed their EYHL2 campaigns with the medals following their Sunday wins over Instonians and Monkstown, respectively, at Whitechurch Park.





Hillhead stole the semi-final show with a huge win over Edinburgh University



The finals of this season`s Scottish Cup are now decided – Watsonians will take on Edinburgh University in the women`s competition while Western Wildcats play Hillhead in the men`s.

USIU-A stun Kisumu Lakers in KHU Premier League
