Germany men, women complete weekend sweep of Spain, USA
Germany scored three goals in the final quarter to secure a 4-0 victory over the visiting USA women at SparkassenPark in Mönchengladbach. Lena Micheel opened the scoring with a brilliant reception in tight, while Sonja Zimmerman, Charlotte Gerstenhöfer and Elisa Gräve tallied in the fourth to secure the weekend sweep. Germany women’s hockey team secured a 4-0 victory over United States in their International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League match at SparkassenPark in Mönchengladbach.

MÖNCHENGLADBACH, Germany – In their second FIH Hockey Pro League match in less than 24 hours, the No. 15 U.S. Women’s National Team took learnings from the first meeting when they again faced No. 5 Germany at SparkassenPark in Mönchengladbach, Germany. After trailing 1-0 at the half, Die Danas opened up the scoring in the fourth, tallying three more goals in a 5-minute span, for the 4-0 victory.
Victory in shootout against Spain: Honamas now leader in the FIH Pro League
In the men’s FIH Pro League, Germany hosted Spain on Sunday, March 27th. 2,000 fans waited a long time for a goal in the Sparkassenpark Mönchengladbach. The German team dominated the game but only took the lead in the last quarter thanks to a penalty corner goal from Gonzalo Peillat in the 48th minute. Spain equalized shortly before the end of the game to make it 1-1. A penalty shootout followed, which Germany won 3-2.
Confident performance: Danas clearly win against the USA

The Danas won the second match in the FIH Pro League in the SparkassenPark in Mönchengladbach in front of 2,000 spectators against the US 4-0. Especially in the second half, the team rewarded its strong performance with well-played goals. As on Saturday, assistant coach Johannes Schmitz took over the position of head coach after national coach Valentin Altenburg tested positive for Corona.

When Germany earned a penalty corner within the first minute of their FIH Pro League men’s hockey match against Spain, a familiar face was seen at the top of the semi-circle, ready to unleash his drag-flick. There was something very odd about the scene though — the player was Gonzalo Peillat, who had climbed to the top of the Olympics podium in Argentina colours over six years ago.
