The Indian women’s hockey team brace for a stiff challenge against Germany in the FIH Pro League doubleheader on March 12 and 13 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Indian women look to return to winning ways against Germany

Playing their debut season in the Pro League, the Indian women made a fine start to their campaign, beating China 7-1 and 2-1 in their opening two games in Muscat.


The Indians, ranked ninth in the world, then defeated world number 6 Spain 2-1 at home before slumping to a 3-4 defeat in the return leg last month. FILE PHOTO   -  PTI

The Indian women's hockey team would look to return to winning ways against a higher-ranked but out-of-touch Germany in the two-legged tie of the FIH Pro League, starting with the first match here on Saturday.





How Scheduling of FIH Pro League Matches Can Get Better!



The riveting FIH Pro League action has been hugely entertaining for hockey buffs across the globe. Notwithstanding the Covid-19-induced absence of Australia and New Zealand, the Pro League has lived up to the expectations of all and sundry as matches have been exciting and competitive. Perhaps one area that left a lot to be desired is the scheduling of some of the Pro League matches held in Potchefstroom, South Africa. France men’s hockey team played a gruelling 8 matches (double-headers vs India, South Africa, Germany and Netherlands) at Potchefstroom in 12 days.

Korea looking for third gold in Potchefstroom



Korea has a good tradition within the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup. They have qualified for all of the eight previous editions and have won the event twice, in 2001 and 2005. They also won silver in the inaugural event in 1989. A bronze medal was the team’s most recent podium place but they have high aspirations for this year’s event in South Africa.

Shootouts; goals and action:Scottish Junior Schools’ Cup 2022 had it all



The Junior Schools’ Cup finals had it all; from shootouts to goal-fests, it was a day of tremendous schools’ hockey in Edinburgh. Edinburgh Academy were victorious in the Junior Girls’ Cup final while Fettes came out on top of the Junior Boys’ Cup final. Glasgow Academy lifted the Junior Girls’ Plate; Loretto School won the Junior Boys’ Plate; St Columba’s were victorious in the first ever Junior Girls’ Challenge Plate; and Peebles High Skill won the first ever Junior Girls’ Challenge Cup.
