India hosting Spain in men's and women's Hockey Pro League doubleheader with chance to climb tables

India and Spain's hockey teams are set for a Pro League doubleheader at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar this weekend.





Indian men seek consistency, women look to maintain winning momentum against Spain

Consistency will be key for the Indian men's hockey team when they take on Spain, while its women counterparts would look to carry on the momentum against same opposition on Saturday.

Bhubaneswar: Consistency will be key for the Indian men's hockey team when they take on a lower-ranked Spain, while its women counterparts would look to carry on the momentum against same opposition during their respective FIH Pro League campaigns on Saturday.

As the hockey bandwagon reaches Bhubaneswar, the Indian women’s team will for the first time get to host FIH Pro League matches, and share the stage with the men’s team. India will host Spain’s men’s and women’s teams for double-headers over the weekend.

Graham Reid, the India men’s coach, met with Indian Olympic Association chief Narinder Batra this week after he criticised the national hockey side’s recent peformances.

The SPAR Indoor Hockey Test Series has flown past in the blink of an eye and just like that it concluded tonight in Dublin in front of a fantastic crowd, with the sound a welcome resonation in the ears of the players.

The First International Hockey matches between Wales and Scotland

It is 99 years ago this month that Wales played their first ever men’s international hockey match against Scotland at Newport. Wales had previously played 14 international games, nine against Ireland and six versus England. All these games had been lost with a tally of 81 goals against to 6 goals scored. In contrast, Scotland had only played one previous international game, losing to Ireland in 1902.

TASHIA Frieda Kalondo is a woman with a fascinating hockey history. Apart from the fact that she was first called up to play for the junior women's national team at the tender age of 13, she also played hockey in South Africa before she played for the senior Namibian women's team.
