Four India matches, including Tokyo Olympics bronze medal ties, nominated for hockey’s ‘Best Match of 2021’

The Indian men’s hockey team famously came back from 3-1 down to beat Germany 5-4 and claim the Olympic bronze medal at Tokyo 2020.

The Indian men’s hockey team’s thrilling 5-4 victory against Germany to clinch the bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 is among the nominees for the Best Match of 2021, shortlisted by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Olympic bronze medal winning India men's hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is in race to win the prestigious World Games Athlete of the Year award after being nominated for the honour. The winner will be selected following an online voting process which begins on January 10 and ends of January 31.





Good outing in Asia Cup key for success in 2022, says India vice-captain Savita

The Indian women will begin the new year with a trip to Oman in January where they will defend their Asia Cup title to be held from 21 to 28 January.

Bengaluru: Defending the title at the women's Asia Cup and sealing a direct berth in the FIH World Cup later will be the key focus for India as it will set the tone for the side ahead of a busy season, said the team's vice-captain Savita.

LESS than 24 hours after being confirmed as a key returnee to the senior national women’s hockey team fold, former team captain Alanna Lewis has been forced to withdraw from the team ahead of the Pan American Hockey Cup in Santiago, Chile from January 19 – 30, a qualifier to the FIH World Cup.
