KUALA LUMPUR: National men's hockey coach Brendon Carolan believes his men are more than ready for the Asian Games semi-finals after ending the group stage with a 5-0 demolition of China in Gifu today.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian women's team's hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the Asian Games are over after losing 2-1 to South Korea in Group A at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium on Sunday.

Reigning national champions Rotterdam have started the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse with a defeat. Coach Jeroen Hertzberger’s side lost 3-1 to Bloemendaal on Sunday. Newly promoted SCHC fought back from a 2-0 deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Oranje-Rood. The match between Den Bosch and Kampong ended goalless, whilst Amsterdam proved too strong for newly promoted Tilburg, winning 5-0, partly thanks to two goals from new striker Duco Telgenkamp.

Den Bosch are the first leaders of the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse. The runners-up won 7-1 against Pinoké on the first round. National champions Amsterdam kicked off with a 4-1 victory over Oranje-Rood. SCHC had their hands full against HGC, but won 2-1 thanks to two goals from Yibbi Jansen. Kampong beat Bloemendaal 3–0, and Rotterdam came out on top in the city derby against Victoria: 1–3.

Results to Form in the Weekend’s Scottish Premiership
Watsonians were first out of the stalls and showed some early form with a 6-0 home win over Western Wildcats. The catalyst was a hat-trick from Ellie O’Connor while the other strikes came from Katie Crawford, Milly Berndes-Cade and Katherine Holdgate. No sign of releasing the Premiership title here.
