New Delhi: The Asian Games 2026 are around the corner, and the Indian men’s hockey team has turned the page, shifting its focus firmly towards Japan. Following a challenging FIH Hockey World Cup campaign where India finished eighth, the team will now look to regroup and defend its Asian Games gold medal — a title that also carries the added significance of securing direct qualification to the LA 2028 Olympics.



Indian Hockey Teams Set for Asian Games Challenge, Eye Gold and LA 2028 Qualification



Aichi-Nagoya: The Indian Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams are set to begin their respective campaigns at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, with both sides arriving in Japan with a clear objective — to challenge for the gold medal and secure a direct qualification berth for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

India's men's and women's hockey teams head to the Asian Games as strong gold contenders but they will have a lot to do on the field. Battling with off-field issues and expectations, nothing more than the gold medal would do for both sides.

Namibia to host SA in hockey test series

Namibia will host South Africa in a women’s indoor hockey test series next month. The Namibia Hockey Union issued a press release today confirming that the series will consist of five matches and will be staged at the Sports Facilitation Centre at the Windhoek Showgrounds from 9 to 11 October.
