Field Hockey Canada’s Women’s National Team is set to kick off the new year with a vital warm weather tour to South Africa from January 5 to 23, 2026. For the 24-athlete squad, this is an opportunity to prepare ahead of the 2026 World Cup Qualifier which takes place in Santiago, Chile from 1- 8th March 2026.

Kane Russell got the first hat-trick of Hockey India League (HIL) but it was Hardik Singh’s jaw-dropping stickwork that allowed HIL Governing Council (GC) to pip SG Pipers 3-2 on Monday at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai.

HIL GC produced a thrilling late surge to edge past SG Pipers 3–2 in their opening fixture of the Hockey India League 2025–26 season at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, with drag-flicker Kane Russell striking a decisive hat-trick.

Ranchi: JSW Soorma Hockey Club registered their first win of the Women’s Hero Hockey India League (HIL) 2025-26, beating Ranchi Royals 2-1 at Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium here on Monday. Penny Squibb (1’) and Olivia Shannon (39’) scored for the winners, while Agostina Alonso (35’) netted for Ranchi Royals.

It took Penny Squibb merely 42 seconds to squeeze the ball between the Royals’ custodian, Bichu Devi Kharibam, and Sabine Plonissen from a short corner.

For the former India captain, having replaced him as interim coach only a day ago, has managed to accomplish what had seemed impossible thus far—getting JSW Soorma Hockey Club its first points on the board in the 2025-26 season with a 2-1 win over Ranchi Royals at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Stadium here.

Soorma Hockey Club registered their maiden victory of the Women’s Hockey India League 2025–26 season with a hard-fought 2–1 win over Ranchi Royals at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi on Monday.
