Ranchi: Shrachi Bengal Tigers held their nerve in a dramatic Women’s Hero Hockey India League 2025-26 encounter to edge past SG Pipers in a shootout after the two sides were locked at 3-3 at the end of regulation time, with Lalremsiami’s sudden-death conversion sealing the bonus point after a pulsating contest.

The second edition of the revived Men's Hockey India League is scheduled to take place across three Indian cities, Chennai, Ranchi, and Bhubaneswar, from January 3 to 26.



Sjoerd Marijne returns as head coach of Indian women’s hockey team

Marijne, the 51-year-old Dutchman, was previously the head coach of the side between 2017 and 2021 during which the team secured a historic fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics.

Sjoerd Marijne, who led the Indian women’s hockey team to a historic fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, is back in charge ahead of the next Olympic Games set to be held in Los Angeles in 2028.

Hockey India on Friday announced the appointment of Sjoerd Marijne as the Chief Coach of the Indian Women's Hockey Team. The dutchman returns to the Indian set-up after a historic performance at the Tokyo Olympic Games when the team finished 4th in only their second appearance at the quadrennial event in more than 36 years.
