Belgium broke the deadlock in the second quarter before doubling their lead in quarter three. Ireland battled back well, getting a much-deserved goal in the final minute thanks to a touch from Ellen Curran from a penalty corner to the delight of the sold-out Irish crowd on the sidelines.

On their FIH Pro League debut, Pakistan had shown grit and resilience to stay on level terms with the Netherlands halfway through their match at the Santiago del Estero Hockey Club in Argentina, only for a meltdown in the third quarter seeing the Dutch power to a 5-2 victory on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s long-awaited FIH Pro League debut began with promise but ended in a 5–2 defeat to defending champions Netherlands in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.
Playing their first-ever match in world hockey’s elite league, Pakistan delivered moments of flair and resilience but were ultimately undone by the Dutch mastery on penalty corners and second-half control.

Chennai: Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team scripted history, securing their first ever bronze medal at the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025 in Chennai. The hosts recorded a sensational 4-2 comeback win against Argentina, scoring four goals in eleven minutes to secure third place in the tournament. Ankit Pal (49’), Manmeet Singh (52’), Shardanand Tiwari (57’) and Anmol Ekka (58’) scored for India after Nicolas Rodriguez (3’) and Santiago Fernandez (44’) had given the visitors the lead.

Rohit led India transformed into a storm in the last quarter to stun surging Argentina with four goals and walk away with a consolation bronze. After going down 0-1 in the very third minutes and then conceding another at the fag end of third quarter, Argentina was on a 2-0 high against the hosts. But the fourth quarter, in which India wasted four penalty corners in a single sequence, bounced back in an unbelievable manner to score four goals to give the full stands enormous joy. The medal saved the Chennai Junior World Cup.

After the semifinal thrashing against Germany, India’s head coach PR Sreejesh said it would be ‘painful’ if his wards returned home from Chennai empty-handed after all the work they had put in for a year leading up to the FIH Junior World Cup. For three quarters in the bronze medal match against Argentina on Wednesday, that word perfectly described India’s performance too: ‘painful’.

In the classification pathway, Austria defeated Namibia and Malaysia advanced from the shoot-out against Zimbabwe to secure the play-off for 21st place. Scotland overcame New Zealand, also in a shoot-out, to reach the final for 17th place, and Chile closed the day with a 2–0 win over Canada to qualify for the first final of the Challenger Trophy. The day combined classification matches, position-defining fixtures and the confirmation of the teams that will fight both for the world title and for the specific objectives of each competition segment.

Ntuli was accused of misconduct, including allegations of alcohol and substance abuse, which he denies. He is now asking the SA Hockey Association (SAHA) to publish the findings of its investigation.
