Ranchi: Ranchi Royals defeated JSW Soorma Hockey Club 2-0 in their Women’s Hero Hockey India League 2025-26 encounter at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi on Friday. Rutuja Dadaso Pisal (30') and Sakshi Rana (54') scored the two goals of the evening.

New Delhi: Hockey India on Friday announced the appointment of Sjoerd Marijne as the Chief Coach of the Indian Women's Hockey Team. The dutchman returns to the Indian set-up after a historic performance at the Tokyo Olympic Games when the team finished 4th in only their second appearance at the quadrennial event in more than 36 years.

Bengaluru: The return of Sjoerd Marijne as chief coach of the Indian women’s hockey team marks not just a reset, but an attempt at damage control after weeks of turmoil. The Dutchman replaces Harendra Singh, whose abrupt resignation last month followed complaints from players alleging harassment and high-handed behaviour.

The second iteration of the revamped men’s Hockey India League (HIL) begins in Chennai from Saturday and Soorma Hockey Club captain Harmanpreet Singh said the competition will be a springboard from the younger generation to test their wares against the best players from the world.
