CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The dynamic duo of Ryleigh Heck and Charly Bruder continued on their season-long war path as they combined to score all of No. 2 North Carolina's goals in a 4-0 victory over No. 4 Virginia on Friday night at Karen Shelton Stadium.

The No. 2 North Carolina field hockey team (13-0, 6-0 ACC) defeated No. 4 Virginia (12-3, 5-2 ACC), 4-0, at Karen Shelton Stadium on Friday evening.

In a clash of national championship contenders, Virginia field hockey journeyed down to Chapel Hill, N.C. Friday for a showdown against North Carolina. Most of the competition played out in the second half of the game, during which the No. 4 Cavaliers (12-3, 5-2 ACC) could not find their footing as the No. 2 Tar Heels (13-0, 6-0 ACC) continued their undefeated season with a 4-0 stomping of the visitors.

With two minutes and 19 seconds left in regulation, Ball State trailed Mid-American Conference (MAC) rival Ohio 1-0. Ahead of Friday, the Cardinals dubbed their remaining three matches as “must-wins.”

Heading into Temple’s game against Villanova, the Owls had a chance to punch its ticket to a fifth consecutive Big East tournament. All they needed to do was get past a Wildcat squad on the heels of two straight losses.
