Virginia field hockey took on Stanford — a new conference foe — on familiar playing ground Sunday, returning home for the second game of their ACC opening weekend. The undefeated Cavaliers (7-0, 2-0 ACC) largely dominated play against the Cardinals (5-3, 0-2 ACC) to come out on top in a 5-1 victory.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Stanford (5-1, 0-2 ACC) suffered it's second conference loss of the season on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 5-1 road contest to the third-ranked Virginia Cavaliers.

The Massachusetts field hockey team captured its second win of the weekend, topping the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon. The Minutewomen (6-2, 1-0 Atlantic 10) are on a hot streak, picking up their sixth victory in a row after opening the season 0-2, including a 2-0 win over Virginia Commonwealth on Friday.

AMHERST, Mass. – Quinnipiac field hockey lost 4-0 on the road to UMass on Sunday afternoon.
Drexel Knocks Off Penn 2-1
PHILADELPHIA – The Dragons continued their strong play with a 2-1 victory against Penn on Sunday, 2-1. It was the Dragons second straight win as they improved to 4-3 this season. After three scoreless quarters, the offenses got going in the fourth. Drexel scored back-to-back goals and seemed to be in full control with eight minutes to go. However, a quick score with six minutes left by Penn set up a chaotic finish. Drexel was able to hold on and defeat their University City rivals in a non-conferece contest at Buckley Field.

Temple Field Hockey began its season as well as it could have imagined. The Owls scored 13 goals in their first two games and were off to a scorching 2-0 start. The good vibes ended there and Temple fell off a cliff with four straight losses. The Owls entered their game against La Salle Sunday desperate for a kickstart heading into conference play after spiralling for nearly a month.

Field Hockey's Valiant Effort Falls Short in 2-1 Overtime Loss to #20 Penn State
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell Bison field hockey team (3-5) gave the #20 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (4-3) a tenacious fight but fell 2-1 in overtime on a pleasant Sunday afternoon at Graham Field. The Orange & Blue led 1-0 on a Lily Neilson goal, but Penn State's 2024 Olympian Sophia Gladieux scored twice allowing the Big Ten team to escape with the hard-fought win. The game was eerily similar to last year's contest between the two teams, when Bucknell led 1-0 on a Neilson tally but fell 2-1 in regulation.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Katie McCallum and Zoe Lawrence scored for the Bears (2-4, 1-0 Ivy), but #6 Ohio State (8-0, 1-0 Big Ten) clinched a 5-2 win over Brown Sunday afternoon at Buckeye Varsity Field in Columbus.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 13 Rutgers field hockey tangled with in-state rival No. 18 Princeton on Sunday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights led for 40 minutes during the middle part of the game, but Princeton scored two goals in the final five minutes of the game to take a 3-2 victory. Princeton improved to 4-2, while RU fell to 3-4 on the year.
